Free Boilers & Insulation, 100% Free. But how?

We've been helping home owners, landlords and private tenants secure energy saving grants for a very long time now and over this time we've gotten ourselves plenty of feedback. The most common response by far "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" - It is truly hard to believe, we know that, we couldn't believe it either at first, but it is. Genuinly.

Who pays for it?

In short, the 'Big Six' energy suppliers. The Government has slapped them on the wrist and ordered them to support those living in fuel poverty and to help reduce the UKs carbon footprint (hence 'The Energy Company Obligation')- So, they have all clubbed together and filled this big pot of money which is to be spent by March 2015 by installing energy efficiency measures in households nationwide such as new boiler systems and home insulation.

Who gets it?

The 'ECO Affordable Warmth' money pot is only to be spent on those in high risk. This includes households which are in receipt of income-related benefits such as Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit etc. If you qualify under 'Affordable Warmth' you can claim free replacement boilers and home insulation on a 100% grant.

Get free insulation, even if you don't get benefits.

It is important for people to know that 'ECO' isn't just for those in receipt of benefits. It has been split down in to three different parts called HHCRO (benefits related), CSCO (area specific) and CERO (houses which have hard to treat walls, are three storeys or require remedial work). HHCRO is benefits related, so we wont go over that again.

Under CSCO, you can claim for free home insulation if your property sits within a certain postcode area. These are specified areas of low income. You can check instantly if your property sits within a CSCO postcode by using our CSCO searching tool.

CERO is for properties which are classed as 'Hard to Treat'. This could mean that they need four hours or more of remedial works including re-pointing and the clearing of rubble from the cavity walls (this is subject to survey). CERO also applies to three storey properties, particularly common in period homes. You can also claim for External Wall Insulation if your home is of a solid brick construction where huge savings can be made. Loft insulation can also be claimed for under CERO, but this is a secondary measure (i.e, the wall will need to be insulated before the loft can be done).
